Ich bin so gespannt auf Alles

In Schaefer's current series, he depicts things in his surroundings and from his daily routine -choosing things from his studio to the parking lot in front of his building. In doing so, there is an act in which the format and the canvas itself becomes an object. The immediate vicinity of everyday life has a direct influence on the artist’s imagery. The motives arise from unconscious, playful and graphic thoughts which are developed during the painting process. Each painting is a result of the other, and without one, the other would not exist.
Schaefer avoids making an unambiguous proposition and leaves it up to the viewer to try to complete the train of thought in the painting.
